That’s stumps on a day of utter dominance from Australia thanks to Steve Smith and Alex Carey who have added 239 together after the innings was in the balance at 91 for 3. There was a thought that Sri Lanka’s 257 would be competitive. Well, for now, it certainly doesn’t seem that way. This pair have produced some of the best batting you could wish to see. They have barely put a foot wrong. The pitch hasn’t quite become as difficult as was predicted, but there’s certainly help for the spinners. Sri Lanka just haven’t had enough consistency, although there were a few near misses that didn’t go their way. All they can cling to is that they still have a chance to bowl last, but Australia will plans for a massive lead that may take that out of the equation. I’ll wrap things up there for today.
