Fans erupt as Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill guide GT to emphatic win over SRH in IPL 2025

In Match 19 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Gujarat Titans put on a clinical show to register a commanding 7-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal. After opting to bowl first, the Titans’ bowlers restricted the hosts to a modest total of 152/8 before the batters made light work of the chase with 20 balls to spare.

Mohammed Siraj sizzles as Sunrisers struggle to accelerate on home turf

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad never really got going against a disciplined Gujarat bowling attack. Despite decent starts from Abhishek Sharma (18 off 16) and Ishan Kishan (17 off 14), the home side failed to build any significant partnerships. Nitish Kumar Reddy tried to hold the innings together with a patient 31 off 34, but the lack of momentum hurt the scoring rate.

Heinrich Klaasen’s 27 off 19 and a fiery cameo by skipper Pat Cummins (22 off 9) gave SRH a late push, but they could only manage 152 for 8 in their 20 overs. Mohammed Siraj was the standout bowler for GT, delivering a match-winning spell of 4/17. He was well supported by Prasidh Krishna (2/25) and Sai Kishore (2/24), while Rashid Khan kept things tight despite going wicketless.

Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar anchor Titans’ chase

Chasing 153, Gujarat Titans had an early hiccup when Sai Sudharsan fell cheaply and Jos Buttler departed for a duck. However, skipper Shubman Gill rose to the occasion with a classy 61 off 43 balls, striking nine boundaries to keep the chase on track.

Washington Sundar, promoted up the order, played a game-changing knock of 49 off 29 deliveries, showcasing his aggressive intent with five fours and two sixes. The duo’s 85-run stand for the third wicket laid the foundation for victory. Sherfane Rutherford then applied the finishing touches with a brisk 35 off just 16 balls, sealing the win in 16.4 overs.

For Sunrisers, Mohammad Shami impressed with the ball, claiming 2 wickets for 28 runs, while Cummins picked up one. However, the rest of the bowling lacked bite as GT chased down the target comfortably.
