IND vs ENG: Rohit Sharma’s ‘brain-tap’ celebration goes viral after Arshdeep Singh dismisses Ben Duckett

India captain Rohit Sharma lauded pacer Arshdeep Singh’s perfect execution of plans during the third and final ODI against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday, with a now-viral “use your brain” gesture.

Rohit Sharma’s ‘brain-tap’ celebration

The incident took place in the seventh over of England’s innings, following Arshdeep’s crucial dismissal of Ben Duckett.

Duckett was batting aggressively, but Arshdeep halted his momentum by dismissing him for 34 off 22 balls. After conceding a few boundaries in the previous over, Arshdeep shifted tactics, using variations instead of relying on sheer pace. Duckett, troubled by a groin strain, appeared cautious against the slower deliveries2. Sensing an opportunity, Arshdeep bowled a well-disguised knuckleball, enticing Duckett into an ambitious shot. The mistimed shot then lobbed towards mid-off, where Rohit took an easy catch.

The Indian skipper then gestured towards his head, signaling that the plan had worked perfectly. Social media quickly picked up on Rohit’s gesture, praising Arshdeep’s cleverness and Rohit’s acknowledgment of the successful strategy.

Arshdeep continued his impactful performance by also dismissing Phil Salt, who was caught at short third by Axar Patel.

A series sweep for Team India

Shubman Gill’s brilliant century powered India to a comprehensive 142-run victory over England in the third ODI, completing a 3-0 series sweep. Gill’s 112 off 102 balls helped India post a formidable 356.

In reply, England struggled against a disciplined Indian bowling attack, with Arshdeep, Harshit Rana and Hardik Pandya picking up crucial wickets. England were eventually bowled out for 214 in 34.2 overs, handing India a resounding series win.

Brief Scores: India 356 in 50 overs (Shubman Gill 112, Virat Kohli 52, Shreyas Iyer 78, Adil Rashid 4/64) beat England: 214 all out in 34.2 overs (Tom Banton 38; Arshdeep Singh 2/33, Harshit Rana 2/31, Axar Patel 2/22) by 142 runs.
