Surprising! Jofra Archer caught sleeping in dugout during IND vs ENG 3rd ODI

The 29-year-old England National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Jofra Archer was caught napping in the dugout in the middle of the third ODI against India National Cricket Team.

Jofra Archer currently resting in the ODI series

Jofra Archer featured in all five T20I matches of the series against India. His performance was not very good in the series as he bagged just 6 wickets and was quite expensive.

During the T20I series, Jofra Archer had picked up a cut in his hand but then played the first ODI match against India in Nagpur. He looked decent in the match as he chipped in with crucial 21 runs with the bat and then with the ball, he had the bowling figures of 1/39. Following that, Jofra Archer was given rest by the team management and didn’t find a place in the XI.

Meanwhile, Jofra Archer was caught napping in the England dugout in the middle of the match in Ahmedabad. Ahead of the last ball of the 25th over, the camera panned towards Archer, who was totally out in sleep.

Notably, England have performed terribly on the India tour and they also have several injury issues in the team.

As per The Telegraph, the star opener Ben Duckett has a left thigh issue and skipper Jos Buttler picked up a hand injury in the third ODI. Bryson Carse has an issue with his toe, Jamie Overton has a hamstring injury, and Jacob Bethell has already been ruled out of action due to injury.

Nice to have contributed – Adil Rashid

The veteran leg-spinner Adil Rashid shined for England in the third match as he bagged 4 wickets by giving away 64 runs in 10 overs.

Speaking during the mid-innings break, Rashid said that he was delighted to perform well and added that they would be looking to chase a 357-run target. He elaborated:

“Nice to have contributed. (On how he varies his pace) Lots of practice but also about identifying what you are as a leg spinner.

“Once you get the ball in the right area with revs and drift in, it makes it difficult. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Pitch looks a bit on the slower side. 356… we got to see how we go out and play. Obviously we will go in with the mindset to chase it down.”

It changes quite a bit in the evening as the dew comes on – Archer’s teammate

Archer’s pace-bowling partner Saqib Mahmood speaking ahead of the match said that the third match might be a dead rubber but it is important for them with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 around the corner.

“I think it’s a dead rubber in terms of the series but in terms of the team we can take a lot heading into the Champions Trophy.”

While sharing his views on the pitches in India, Saqib Mahmood said that the tracks change quite a bit in the evening as the dew comes. He elaborated:

“It changes quite a bit in the evening as the dew comes on. It has been really good in the powerplay for batting. It’s my first time in India and I’m learning a lot, it has been good fun.

“It’s been a little stop-start for me. A few years ago in 2022, I cemented my spot a bit but then I had a stress fracture. Hopefully, I can make a comeback and play in all formats.”
